In summer of 2015 the developers are going to release a new “revolutionary” version of Linux operating system. The new OS will be titled as Linux ++.

About the development of Linux ++

This is new software on the issue of computer architecture, on which the company employs 75% of the employees. The project is named The Machine and it will be built on the new RAM. These new elements of memory resistors provide an ultra-high speed for the information transfer. The first PC with the latest operating system Linux ++ will be released no earlier than in 2016. The work on this project has lasted during few years.

LINUX ++ release date was confirmed

What is a memristor? This is a new word in microelectronics. These are the passive element made of tantalum oxide, which has some unique abilities. The charge flowing through a memristor is changing its resistance. A new element may substitute for the transistors, which are currently used in microelectronics. It perfectly stores the charge passing through it, and stores all the information even if power is turned off. The capacity and speed of the new element is higher than today’s flash memory.

Thus, Linux ++ developers will be able to create a more compact PC – memristors replace a lot of unnecessary components. It will be used and the technology of silicon photonics: lasers will replace the copper contacts. Users look forward to the release of new PC with improved Linux ++.

Linux ++ release date is expected at the end of June 2015.
